Original state and problem
The deployment of EDI was discussed at Muziker for several years. They are trying to digitize and automate all processes that they evaluate as repetitive. Therefore, they knew that the introduction of EDI was an inevitable step.
The breakthrough came in 2019, when their important supplier Berlin Brands Group demanded the introduction. Thanks to this, Muziker reached the final decision to introduce EDI communication. This was an unusual situation because it is usually the customer who first implements EDI and then involves their suppliers.
How it all went
Due to the development of the e-shop, Muziker did not have the conditions for full EDI integration ready at the time, so it chose the simple ORiON webEDI solution, which is an available version of EDI with an interface in a web browser. In the case of Muziker, it was a temporary solution until they prepare the technical conditions.
Muziker switched to full EDI integration in 2021 after the completion and launch of the new e-shop. They remained at ORiON EDI, only converted the webEDI interface to a fully integrated solution connected to their information system.
After the implementation of EDI, Muziker, with the support of GRiT, started involving suppliers primarily from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In two years, they engaged a tenth of all their suppliers. Thanks to this, they process a fifth of the total number of received invoices via EDI.
