Real-time locating system (RTLS)

Technology used for digitizing movement; keeps track of and transmits information about the location of  a selected object (i.e. a pallet or vehicle) or person in a specified space (a warehouse, a production hall etc.) in real time.  The space is connected to the network and equipped with antennas (called anchors), and the objects that are being tracked are equipped with locating tags. Based on these tags, information about the location of the selected object is transmitted through the antennas into a computer software. The collected data can then help improve the efficiency of company processes, such as those connected with production or warehouse management.
